The purpose of end-user training is to equip our employees with the skills to perform their jobs. It is critical to provide detailed instruction to all users in order for training to be successful.
On-going training will be conducted throughout the life of the CMS project. This will include classroom training, one-on-one individualized training and on-line training when available.
For more questions on CMS training, please contact Doris SelvaPagan at x77270 or send mail to cmstrain@csusb.edu.

How are new employees trained? What about employees who already have access but now have different job responsibilities and need additional training? (Back to Top)
Training classes will be offered on a regular basis for introductory classes, as well as specific components. If a class does not fit the schedule of an employee, the Training Team will work with them one on one to ensure they receive the appropriate training to do their job. Send inquires to cmstrain@csusb.edu
How is the hands-on training designed? (Back to Top)
Training is led by an instructor with hands-on computer work. The sessions range from an introductory navigational class to complex process-related classes covering everything necessary to get data in and out of the database. Trainees have the opportunity to perform a number of exercises during the class session and receive training guides to use as desktop reference tools.
What if the training classes don't work with my schedule? (Back to Top)
In an emergency situation where an employee needs immediate training in order to do their job, special arrangements can be made for on-site, hands-on training. However, it is the goal of the Training Team to provide enough sessions of the classes to accommodate all employees.
How do I know what classes I need? (Back to Top)
The campus CMS Trainer/Documentation Specialist, in conjunction with campus managers, determine the training classes that should be offered. Some classes are only offered for central offices, while other classes are offered campuswide. Each class has a description listed at the curriculum page. These may help you determine the most appropriate classes for your position.
Where are training classes held? (Back to Top)
Training sessions are held in on campus computer labs (PL045/PL015 to mention a few).
Do either of the training rooms have Macintosh computers? (Back to Top)
Currently training rooms are equipped with PCs only. The navigation within PeopleSoft does not differ between the PC and Mac environments, and training given on one platform can be applied to another.
How do I sign up for training? (Back to Top)
You can review class information and enroll yourself in classes using the CMS webpage registration link "Register for CMS Training" on the CMS Web Site
Do you offer refresher courses? (Back to Top)
Yes. We offer refresher courses as appropriate, especially for processes used only once or twice a year. These are listed in the training schedule and are announced via the CMSInformation ListServ as they are scheduled. You will be asked to register for these as you would other training classes. To subscribe to CMSINFO Listserv go to How to page.
Do you offer open labs? (Back to Top)
