  1. How do I get help with a problem in PeopleSoft or other CMS systems? (Back to Top)

    The IRT Help Desk provides first level end user support for both functional and technical problems. An employee should call the Help Desk (77677) for assistance. A trained staff of campus subject matter experts (SMEs) will assist the user in resolving the problem.

  3. What information can I access via the web? (Back to Top)

    A variety of data is available on the CMS Web Site. Process guides, flowcharts and other procedural documentation is available to the campus as well as information related to training, and on-going project updates.

  4. How do I get access to PeopleSoft? (Back to Top)

    In order to gain access to the PeopleSoft databases, you must complete the appropriate training. Once training is complete and a signed Computerized Information access request form has been turned in, Security will assign a User ID and password. Please note that you may be assigned a User ID and password for each module. For more information go to the Security page.

  5. Is there more than one type of access to the system? (Back to Top)

    Yes. Separate access is granted for each of the following systems:, PeopleSoft Human Resources and Financials, the Student System (SIS+), Advance to mention a few. Additionally, both PeopleSoft HR and Financials have separate Reporting instances. Access to each of these instances is granted and maintained independently. Remember that you must complete all appropriate training and turn in all required Forms before you can gain access to any of these systems. Your User ID and password for one system will not work on another.

  6. If I change my password on one system, does it change for all of them? (Back to Top)

    No. Each system and instance has its own password, including the Reporting instances of each system. This means that if you change your password for PeopleSoft HR Production, it will not change for PeopleSoft Finance. Please be aware of this when changing or receiving a reset password.

  7. What software do I need installed on my computer? (Back to Top)

    To navigate and process normal transactions in Finance and HR, you need to have Internet Explorer or another compatible web browser installed on your machine. IRT Support Help Desk or your Department Technical support staff area able to assist with installing the appropriate browser.

    Internet Explorer is recommended.

  8. Is there a time-out on the system that will automatically log me out? (Back to Top)

    The timeout for all users in both the HRand Finance databases is set to 15 minutes.

  9. Is the system available all the time? Even nights and weekends? (Back to Top)

    In general, the system is available every day. There are scheduled maintenance windows that could delay access to the system.

  10. Can I access PeopleSoft from my home computer? (Back to Top)

    The HR and Financials databases are available via the Internet and do not require special access to connect from home. You will need an Internet Service Provider and a modem connected to your home PC. Please be advised that at this time there is no telecommuting policy on campus so theoretically there should not be regular telecommuting occurring because of potential legal liability for the University. For additional information on telecommuting, please contact your manager.

  11. Can I access PeopleSoft on a Macintosh computer? (Back to Top)

    Yes. If you work on a Mac, you will be able to access the system. The HR and Finance databases are accessed via the Internet, so there is no extra software necessary.

  12. How do I take a "picture" of a page? (Back to Top)

    For a quick screenshot, you can press Alt-Print Screen on your keyboard to copy the panel shot. You can then open a desktop publishing program (such as Word) or photo editing program and paste the image using the Edit functions (Ctrl-V is the keyboard shortcut). If you need to take multiple pictures, a piece of software like SnagIt! may be more appropriate. You can contact your local tech support to find out about available software.

    If you want to print out a page in databases and systems accessed via the Web, you can use the browser print button to print the current page of data you are looking at.

  13. Can I use Netscape to access PeopleSoft? (Back to Top)

    Possibly. IE is preferred.

  14. Is PS Finance v9.0 as user friendly as v8.4? (Back to Top)

    Absolutely! The look is different and some navigation has changed. These topics were covered in the Overview for PS Fin v9.0

  15. Will I have to attend training again? (Back to Top)

    No, You are not required to attend training to gain access to PS Finance v9.0. Security Access from PS Finance v8.4 will roll forward into PS Fin v9.0. Delta courses are made available to introduce you to minor changes in the upgrade. You may re-take courses as often as needed.

  16. When do I get to see the new software? (Back to Top)

  17. I cannot Login, My Coyote ID doesn’t work (Back to Top)

    Passwords are case sensitive. Contact the HelpDesk for assistance at 77677. Request to have your password reset.

  18. I didn’t get my New ID (Back to Top)

    ID’s were NOT issued. ID’s remain the same(Empl ID’s). Security access from PS Finance v8.4 will roll forward into PS Finance v9.0. See CMS website http://cms.csusb.edu/cms/index.jsp Prepare For (in middle of page).

  19. Why can’t I see a page? (Back to Top)

    Security Access from PS Finance v8.4 will roll forward into PS Fin v9.0 If you need to see additional pages Training maybe required for access. If you cannot see pages you saw in PS Finance v8.4 contact the HelpDesk @ 77677.

  20. What do I do if page is stuck? (Back to Top)

    Select the Stop button. Using the Back button may cause you to lose data.

  21. I timed out – can I get my data back (Back to Top)

    No – any unsaved transaction will be lost

  22. I lost my Run Controls (Back to Top)

    Run control settings were not migrated over from v8.4. You must set up new run controls. Emails went out in mid Jan 2009 to remind users to take note of their run controls as they would not be migrated.

  23. I lost my Favorites (Back to Top)

    Favorites were not migrated in the Finance 9.0 upgrade. You will need to create a new Favorites list. Favorites allow you to create your own list of bookmarks to folder and content references in PeopleSoft. The Favorites you create become part of your PeopleSoft user profile. This means that when you log-in to PeopleSoft at another workstation, your PeopleSoft Favorites will be there. PeopleSoft Favorites should not be confused with the Favorites that are in your browser.
